A letter to my youngerself

You were only 9 years old when it dawned on you that you can sing. Passing through the corridors of the classroom block where music was being practiced made you fall in love with the art. Each day there after, you would go after lessons to listen to grade 4-7 as they sing their competition songs during practice sessions. You were in grade 3 and too small to join the school choir.

One day you approached the music teacher telling him you would love to join the choir. The teacher looked at this short small boy trying to come to terms with his request.

” my friend, why don’t you go and play with others at the big field “, the teacher said. The boy insisted ” I want to join the school choir!” The boy could not hide his excitement and disappointment at the same time should the teacher refused him. The boy was told to come the next day

At home the boy told the mother about his intentions and mum encouraged him. The next day the boy was admitted into the music class. I remember you looked at the notes on the black board as the teacher interprets them. Most of the big boys in there struggled with the notes. When it was your turn to demonstrate, you did it with6any difficulty which amazed the teacher and other pupils. That was the beginning of your musical journey. Today you are much older now and you have many accolades in music. Two albums now is something you can smile about. You are now a formidable force in the music industry where you can compose music and perform for different church functions.

Keep on moving, the sky is the limit. Who knows where this can take you to. Keep dreaming big
